I’ve always wondered why I feel so dehydrated when I come back from travelling. Maybe it’s the long flights, the exercise from walking everywhere, and hours of soaking up the sun. Now that it’s almost time for vacation season to start, I thought I’d share some of my tips to stay hydrated during your next vacation.
Bring your own bottle! It doesn’t matter where I go, I always have a refillable water bottle with me. I bring it empty, and once I get through the gates there are some stations to fill it up with water. But if not, a simple hack of mine is to find the nearest Starbucks and ask for some ice water. For Christmas last year, my friend got me this collapsible water bottle from MEC so it doesn’t take up a lot of space in my bag! You can also get super cute water bottles like the one in the picture from Pink by Victoria Secret.
Wine a little
If you like alcoholic drinks (like me), be sure to balance it out by drinking lots of water. I find that when I have boozy drinks in the air, it has stronger effects on my body. So next time you have wine with your dinner, ask for water as well.
Face Wipes + Masks
Sam and I love face masks! These are so useful after long hours of flights, or being out in the sun. I purchase my face wipes from stores like Target and Walmart and face masks from The Crème Shop, The Face Shop and Sephora. The travel size face wipes are great to keep with you in your bag for hydration during the day. Save your face masks for when you’re back in your room to rejuvenate.
When I spend a lot of time outside, I like to use tinted moisturizers with SPF. It’s super hydrating, feels really light on my skin, provides coverage, and protects me from the sun. I am currently using Purlisse BB cream in fair, and I am in love with it!
Love your lips
Lastly, your skin isn’t the only part of your body you should hydrate, your lips need some attention to as well. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. After parasailing for a few hours without applying any lip balm, my lips were so red and swelled to the size of mini hot dogs! My favourite lip balm right now is from Sun Bum, you can get these on Amazon, at sport stores, and even at pharmacies.
